Special Places

The itineraries below are just an example of what we can arrange for your holiday – contact us for a personalized itinerary, designed specifically for your needs.

Suggested ‘Special Places’ Itinerary – Hidden Hideaways

Fly into Rotorua where you will spend the next three evenings.  Your stay is at the stunningTreetops Lodge, set in the heart of forest on the outskirts of town. Explore this peaceful wilderness setting on private mountain biking tracks, bush walks, hunting or fishing trips or use it as a base from which to enjoy Rotorua’s attractions and the surrounding region.

Drive to Havelock North in the Hawkes Bay wine region on Day 4 and make the most of this wine making area by staying for two nights in secluded accommodation that sits amongst the vines themselves.

Leave the small but sophisticated countryside town on Day 6 and drive to Wellington, spending a night in New Zealand’s capital city. The next day fly directly to your accommodation in the Marlborough Sounds or take the ferry across Cook Strait and take a water taxi to your resort, which can only be reached by water or air.

Spend 2 nights in the Sounds, where bush clad hills encircle the many bays and coves of beautiful blue waters that make this area a natural playground for those who enjoy sailing, cruising, fishing, diving, walking or kayaking.

Fly or boat out to Picton on Day 9 and collect your rental car for the drive to Hanmer Springs, a small spa resort tucked amongst mountains. Stay here 1 night before continuing onto Christchurch where you have a 1 night stay before departure on Day 11.

Suggested ‘Special Places’ Itinerary – Southern Splendor

Arrive in Christchurch and spend 1 night in the ‘Garden City’.

The following morning take a leisurely drive to the alpine spa resort of Hanmer Springs. Relax in the thermal pools, try the excellent mountain biking or take in the beautiful mountain scenery enfolding the village. After a night in Hanmer Springs, continue on to Westport for a 2 night stay at Rough and Tumble Wilderness Lodge – the perfect place to experience the New Zealand bush or unwind in comfortable, rustic surroundings. Drive down the coast to Fox Glacier on Day 5. Spend a night here, taking the opportunity of a walk on the glacier or perhaps a scenic flight over it. Continue on to Wanaka on Day 6. Wanaka is a small township on the southern shores of Lake Wanaka that, despite its growing popularity, retains the flavour of a typical New Zealand holiday town. Spend your two nights here either at an iconic New Zealand hotel, leftover from the area’s gold-mining days, or at a luxury lodge with the opportunity to escape to a private mountain chalet for one of these nights. On Day 8, make the drive to Milford Sound and take an overnight cruise – a unique and leisurely way to experience this spectacular location. Depart Milford on Day 9 and drive on to a farm-stay in the Southland countryside. Your accommodation will be in the private home of a New Zealand family, giving you the opportunity to experience life in rural New Zealand. On Day 10 drive north through Central Otago, the country’s most inland region, also its hottest, coldest and driest. Spend the next 2 nights in Clyde, or one of the surrounding small towns, and spend Day 11 cycling a part of the Otago Central Rail Trail – a path that follows the route of what was once a bustling railway linking Dunedin to the country’s major goldfields. The path takes you through amazing gorges, over viaducts, and past the schist rock, tussock covered hills and historic settlements that characterizes the region. Take a leisurely drive up to Mt Cook National Park on Day 12 and stay overnight at the historic Hermitage Hotel, with an outlook over New Zealand’s highest mountain in the heart of the park. Finish your trip in Christchurch on Day 13.
