Suggested Romantic Itinerary - Scenic Spots
Fly into Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands, where a mild climate, good fishing, beautiful beaches and islands and the laid-back nature of the picturesque small townships make this a popular holiday destination. Collect your rental car here and drive the short distance to Paihia or Russell for a three night stay. Spend two days at leisure in the Bay of Islands – cruise around the islands, swim with dolphins, take an excursion up to Cape Reinga & Ninety Mile Beach or explore the many historical points of interest in the area, one of the first in New Zealand to be settled. Drive down to Auckland on Day 4 and spend 2 nights in the area – perhaps staying in Matakana, an hour out of the city or Waiheke Island, a 20 minute ferry ride away. Both are peaceful, beautiful locations that offer a number of wineries, art galleries & studios to explore. Fly to Queenstown on Day 6 for a 4 night stay. You may even like to cross over the hills for a couple of nights in the smaller lakeside town of Wanaka. With 3 free days in the area, there is plenty of time to take part in the many adventure activities on offer, take a scenic flight to Fiordland or up the West Coast, or relax and enjoy the stunning alpine scenery. Depart Queenstown on Day 10.

Suggested Romantic Itinerary - Small Town Escape
Arrive in Auckland. Today is free for you to explore the city at your leisure. Let us know if you’re interested in a specialized guided tour – we can recommend a tour of the nearby rainforests and beaches or one that shows you Auckland from a contemporary Maori perspective. Spend the night in Auckland and collect your rental car the following morning for the drive to the Coromandel Peninsula. Here, expanses of beautiful native bush cloak mountain ranges that run down to golden sanded beaches. Relax in the small beachside town of Pauanui for 2 nights. Explore the bush or artists studios scattered around the area, soak up the sun on the stunning beaches, or head out on a fishing boat. Drive down to Rotorua for a 2 night stay in the thermal region. Simply relax at your accommodation or take in the sights, with scenic flights over volcanoes, fishing, Maori cultural experiences, and mountain biking, white water rafting and zorbing on offer. On Day 6, drive through the central North Island to the small wine village of Martinborough for 2 nights. On your free day here, you may like to take a gourmet tour of the area’s wineries and specialist food producers, go horse trekking or take a drive out to the coast. Continue the short distance to Wellington on Day 8. While you are here, a visit to Te Papa Tongarewa, the National Museum of New Zealand is recommended. This vibrant city also offers a great New Zealand shopping experience, with plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants to stop at along the way. Take the ferry across Cook Strait on the morning of Day 9 and drive on to sunny Nelson for 2 nights. Day 10 is at leisure in Nelson – perhaps spend the day kayaking the coastline around the Abel Tasman National Park or taking a leisurely drive between the arts and crafts studios that are scattered around the area, a popular base for a variety of artists. Head inland on Day 11 to Hanmer Springs, a natural spa village surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains. Gentler relaxation takes the form of forest walks, thermal pools, massage / health treatments and golf, while action attractions include jet boating on the Waiau River, horse trekking, mountain biking and bungy from a historic bridge. After 2 nights in Hanmer, drive on to Christchurch where your itinerary ends on Day 13.
